Millennial Generation Inspires Two New Chevrolet Concepts

Some see them as the second round of Boomers. Others see them as digitally-driven youngsters brought up with a technological hunger. Chevrolet sees them as an emerging demographic, open for the taking. Who are they? Jeff D'Ambrosio Chevrolet is referring to the Millennial Generation. Born into a dynamic world where technological advancements happen every day, the Millennials are young professionals with an interest in vehicles yet no particular brand loyalty. Considering members of this consumer audience have 60+ years of car buying ahead of them, automakers are well-advised to start grabbing their attention.
As always, Chevrolet is one step ahead of the game. At the well-known auto show that took place recently in Detroit, MI, Chevy released two concept models aimed at a younger generation of automotive buyers. Both the Tru 140S and Code 130R boast Millennial-friendly characteristics such as snazzy styling, competitive fuel-economy and an affordable price tag. As for the interior...well...neither model has one. This is not due to a Chevy faux pas. Rather, the savvy automaker decided to leave the vehicle's interior slate blank and let young consumers fill it in themselves. Over the next few months, Chevrolet will show both concepts around the country and grab feedback regarding desired tech-features and design.
To give youngsters, and all Chevy fans, in the Oxford area an idea of what these concept models are like, Jeff D'Ambrosio Chevrolet is happy to divulge the details we've gathered. For starters, the Tru 140S plays on the body of an exotic sports car but gets much better mileage and comes in the form of a three-door hatchback. The Code 130R on the other hand, gets a bit more muscle and features a three-box design with stocky fender flares and an upright greenhouse. Frank Saucedo, Director of the GM North America Advanced Design studio, says both models contain "functionality with coupe-like aesthetics."1
